Winter can be a harsh season for both the skin and the hair. As the chill in the air grows, it is important to think of ways to take care of your hair which could get very unhealthy due to the strong winds, the snow or the dryness in the air.  Hair must be protected from the damage which the winter elements can cause. In order to protect your hair from getting damaged due to the winter elements present in the cold air; you can wear a cap which hides most of the hair. If you do not wish to wear a cap due to the fact that it can make hair oily, you can also wrap your hair in a silk scarf before putting on a woolen hat or cap.  This helps to combat the static current and keeps hair away from the harmful winds.

Oiling

Another way to care for your hair in the winter months is to give them a regular oiling session. By oiling your hair once or twice a week, you can provide them with the deep nourishment which they deserve at this time of the year and will be treated to all the nutrients as well.

Wash Hair to the Minimum

Another way to ensure that hair remain healthy and nourished during winters is to wash your hair as less as possible. By regularly washing hair, you wash them off the nutrients and this can make the scalp dry. Wash your hair not more than 2 times a week if you have a dry scalp. For oily hair, give not more than 3 washes a week.

Use Conditioner After Shampoo

Using shampoo alone for hair care during winters is not enough. Invest in a good conditioner which can nourish the hair rather than drying them. Make sure that the conditioner does not contain too many chemicals as the chemicals can steal away all nutrients from the hair.

Eat Right

During the winter months, it is important to eat right and keep yourself well hydrated. You must eat a lot of green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits and vegetables in order to keep the hair healthy and nourished. Also, do not miss out on drinking atleast 8 glasses of water everyday besides fresh fruit juices.
