Consequences of not Applying Hair Oil Regularly

Beautiful hair is bliss for sure; in this age of dirt and pollution very few people still have a head of voluminous, lustrous, and healthy hair. The source of hair growth is beneath the epidermis and the roots of hair are known as hair follicle.

Even if you have a busy schedule it is important to take care of your hair because unhealthy and unkept hair can ruin your appearance and also bring on undesired consequences like dandruff, hairfall, premature greying, hair fall and baldness. Following the right hair care regime is important and the regime should be decided after speculating your hair type and length.

consequences of not applying hair oil regularly

One important step while taking care of your hair is “Oiling”; if oil massage is skipped your hair is bound to be dry, frizzy, damaged, lack of lustre and also prone to breakage and hair fall. Oiling is the best thing that can make your hair strong, thick and voluminous – this fact is proved since decades. Here are some disadvantages of not oiling your hair regularly –

Restricted Hair Growth

Oil provides the nourishment to the hair roots; it is like the food to your hair, thus lack of oiling restricts the hair growth. Your hair shaft is a strand of protein and it also needs vitamins and nutrients regularly. Oil massage atleast 3 -4 times a week is enough to bring back the nourishment that the hair has lost due to activities like chemical colouring, irons, curls, straightner etc.

Scalp Infections

Regular oiling of hair can restrict a number of scalp infections that come from bacteria or fungal attacks. When the pores on the scalp get clogged with dirt and grease, they often get contaminated with bacteria or fungi. These infections give a favourable environment for the growth of troubles like dandruff and lice. Regular oiling can also prevent dryness and irritation in the scalp. Too much of oiling however leads to dandruff, thus practice a regime of using hair oil in medium quantity with few drops of honey to give an anti-bacterial treatment at home and wash off with shampoo.

Reduces Protein Content

As said before, hair is a strand of protein and it derives its nourishment from the oil. Lack of oiling leads to brittle and weakened hair. You should opt for nutrient rich oils like coconut oil, almond oil, castor oil, and olive oil to provide the best protein addition to your hair.

Most of the hair oils also have Vitamin E content, which is again a very essential nutrient needed for healthy hair growth. Regular oiling strengthens your hair, reduces hair fall, split ends and can withstand heated treatments like rolling and ironing better.

Apart from the above mentioned points, the other disadvantages of not applying regular hair oil is lack of shine and lustre in your hair, dandruff, premature greying and so on. Use warm oil for hair massaging, do it regularly for best results and then shampoo your hair thoroughly. Keeping oil overnight is also a good practise as it helps in proper absorption of the oil. Best oils for hair massage are Moroccan Argan Oil, Hibiscus oil, Tea tree oil, Jojoba oil, apart from the time honoured coconut oil and castor oil.
